California Tour Part I COMPLETE

On to Part II!

Part I of the California tour is officially wrapped up and it sure flew by! On this trip we visited many great shelters and rescues across Southern California and Nevada, as well as met some truly great people along the way.

On this tour, we hosted a somewhat unique fundraiser event for an organization called Pawtastic Friends. This is a company committed to providing enrichment training to shelter dogs in an effort to better prepare them for their forever homes. So while our fundraiser wasn’t specifically to benefit one shelter or rescue, in a way it will benefit MANY! Pawtastic Friends will use the funds raised to help train dogs in need of a little enrichment or behavior tune-up.

As you can imagine, dogs that land in shelters have baggage, they have a history. Some stories are as simple as an owner surrender due to relocation or owner passing away, but most commonly the stories are much more tragic. Canine behavior modification is expensive and can take time to be successful. Inserting this extra step in the rehabilitation and rehoming of shelter dogs is absolutely wonderful to see, because it drastically reduces the shelter return rate of the dogs. Pawtastic Friends works with area shelters and rescues to help transform terrified or anxious shelter dogs into healthy, confident canine companions ready for their forever families.

In addition to the training programs they offer, this non-profit also helps provide food, medical care, supplies and comfort items like toys to shelter dogs while they wait for adoption.

This is just one example of the truly extraordinary work we get to witness as we visit hundreds of different shelters and rescues in many different states. This unique experience is worth highlighting, because it could serve as a model for other shelters, rescues and training facilities all across the country.

After a bit of rest at home, Kris and the Jordan’s Way team will hop back on the road for Part II of the California tour! This trip will focus on the Northern part of the state and will kick off on May 15th! Last night our LIVE Jordan’s Way fundraiser was for Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue in Las Vegas, Nevada. CMDR specializes in small breed senior dogs with special needs. Their monthly veterinary bills can be astronomical due to the high medical needs of their rescue population. We started our fundraiser off (as we always do) with a little pow wow to pump everybody up to raise some funding for the rescue!

A group of local gymnasts attended the event to support CMDR. They didn’t hesitate to drop and do push-ups to help bring in the donations! During the bailout wars, they got a little puppy love.

Tee from New Jersey had fun with the chubby bunny challenge. This is a challenge we see occasionally, but not very often! She also took a slime bucket for a good cause. Thanks for being such a good sport, Tee!

Doug volunteered to shave his head to continue encouraging donations! This was our first head shave of this tour! The kids were happy to take turns helping with the head shaving effort!

Stabler and Olivia are a bonded pair we wanted to highlight. This sweet couple of Maltese Mixes will need to be adopted together. If you’re interested in adopting them, go to connorandmilliesdogrescue.org/available-dogs/ to learn more about their adoption.

Oboe is another little sweetheart waiting for his forever home. Look at those adorably huge ears! Oboe is a social Chihuahua who likes other dogs and loves to snuggle with his humans! This morning, our last (but not least) fundraising event for this tour was with Forgotten Friends Dog Rescue. This fundraiser was held at Petrack Park in Pahrump, Nevada. Forgotten Friends Rescue was founded by Manda and Jane in 2010 and the rest is history! This all breed rescue focuses on rehabilitating dogs then matching them with the perfect forever homes.

Forgotten Friends has so many beautiful dogs looking for their forever homes, it’s difficult to highlight just a few! Joy is an Old English Sheepdog and Poodle Mix (Sheepadoodle) looking for her forever home. She is a deaf girl, so her new forever family will require a little patience and understanding to help her settle into her new home. We saw the urine sample challenge come back out during this fundraising event! Luckily for all of the shelters and rescues on this tour, NO ONE failed the urine sample challenge! It lives on to the next tour. Will someone eventually have to drink it? (Remember, it’s NOT a real urine sample, just sour liquid candy)! You'll have to follow along on the next tour to find out!

Denise played puppy love with Katie but Katie was NOT a fan of her puppachino being served atop someone’s face. Chance was brought in for clean up duty and happily obliged. Pumbaa LOVED drop it like it’s hot and wiener mania! Puma is a Shepherd/Collie Mix looking for his forever home. He was a huge fan of all of the attention he received at today’s event! Pawtastic Friends is a private, non-profit organization that provides enrichment training courses for homeless dogs. The training provided by Pawtastic Friends helps dogs from all backgrounds become the best versions of themselves, preparing them for successful adoptions.

Mike and Steve really took one for the team by agreeing to take ALL of the pies during the pie face challenge!

The rest of the crew participated in the ice bucket challenge, though! That water looks COLD!

The great thing about rescues that focus on homeless dogs in need of medical care or rehabilitation, is hearing the incredible stories that some of these dogs have. Though, most of the details are heartbreaking and difficult to hear, the perseverance that some of these animals demonstrate is nothing short of inspiring. Having gone through such tragic suffering, they are still so full of LOVE and HOPE!

The sweetheart I’m about to highlight has a name that fits. Her name is Love. She is a 3 legged Pit Bull with a ton of heart. Love was brought into rescue after a good samaritan called to find her some help. She was found abandoned, appearing to have recently had puppies, as well as suffering from blunt force trauma to one of her rear legs. Another little cutie looking for her forever home is Kenzi, the gorgeous Cattle Dog Mix. Kenzi was found living near a dump but has adjusted well to home life. First thing this morning, Kris and Mary Lynne were back at it with Crazy4Pawz Animal Rescue hosted by the Henderson Animal Shelter in Henderson, Nevada! As Kris has mentioned before in many of the Jordan’s Way live feeds, we like to really spoil the dogs during each fundraiser. Drop it like it's hot is a game played during the bailout wars. Each rescue participant holds a treat in their hand and drops it when the next donation is made. The dogs LOVE this challenge!

If you’ve followed our blog, you know we love it when kids get involved in the fun. Today we had a huge helper named Marley! She was ready to hose everybody down during the mega bailout war, but unfortunately for her they made it out without getting the hose down! Marley also participated in the ice bucket, trick or treat challenge, and at the end of the fundraiser event she and Kris pied each other in the face!

Last night, we were with Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League or SNARL, kindly hosted by Club K9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Be sure to follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ClubK9LasVegas . Southern Nevada Rescue League aims to rescue any breed of dog in need while also educating the public about breed discrimination.

We had a lot of participation at SNARL last night, and a ton of fun! Rescue staff Tom brought his kids along for the fun. Paeyton helped out by taking the trick or treat challenge! We love it when rescue members get their kids get involved. Not only is this such a fun, family friendly event, but it also creates future animal advocates! The kids got to participate in the ice bucket challenge and even wax their dad Tom's legs! Ouch!

We played a new game with the members of SNARL called Face Smash! This challenge is pretty self explanatory, what a fun alternative to pie face but equally as messy!

Sheila and Akira enjoyed the bailout wars. This is a great opportunity for the community to witness these dogs interact with people they already know and trust. It gives an inside look into their genuine behavior with familiar humans. Sheila is a pretty little Pitty who is just over a year old. This morning, Kris and the Jordan’s Way team were with Animal Network in Las Vegas, Nevada! Animal Network is a non-profit organization who will not only take any breed of dog into care, but also offers financial assistance and temporary boarding in an effort to keep pets with their current, loving families. Kris likes to start off many of the Jordan’s Way fundraisers by making it rain treats for the dogs. This helps settle any anxiety they may have about our presence in their space. Many dogs are food motivated so this pairs us with treats and builds a little bit of trust.

Today we had a new challenge pop up (we love it when that happens), and it was a water gun fight!! We’ll have to use this one again sometime, it was SO fun!

The Animal Network staff members were great sports about playing egg roulette and the mega bailout wars! When trapped in the kennel for the mega bailout wars, they worked hard to raise enough money to bail themselves out!

Tinee is another sweet soul we met today that we wanted to highlight. He loved all of the attention from the bailout wars at today’s fundraiser! Tinee is a 10 year old Mastiff and a big bundle of love. He was an owner surrender due to relocation and would love to get back into a home full of love as soon as possible. Closing out the fundraiser, we saw Lauren and Laney play the treat transfer challenge. Just as we were waiting for one of them to get creative, Lauren used her mouth to tip over her bucket and empty it deeming her the winner!

Lionel’s Legacy is a foster based, senior dog rescue that not only takes in older dogs in need of loving homes, but also provides assistance to families of aging pets in need of costly medical care. So who is Lionel, you ask? Lionel was a 15 year old Pit Bull mix that inspired what is now known as Lionel’s Legacy. Lionel was in poor shape both medically and psychologically when he was brought into foster from a Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

From there, Lionel inspired a passion for rescuing senior pets in the area as well as providing assistance to owners who may be overwhelmed with increasing costs and care as the pets they love inevitably age.

Jordan’s Way was honored to host a fundraiser for this incredible organization. At today’s fundraiser, we held a couple of challenges that we haven’t seen before! Participants had to brush their teeth with DOG toothpaste! Yuck! We also held a baby food eating competition!

We always love when the community shows up to rally around their local shelters and rescues. In this case, a Lionel’s Legacy adoption alumni showed up to donate $100! A local class of 2nd graders also provided some beautiful artwork for the event. SO sweet! What a generous display of support for this amazing rescue.

Last night our live fundraiser event was for SPARK Animal Rescue in Santa Barbara, California. SPARK is a 100% volunteer run and foster based rescue.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Ron for hosting our event at his venue, Centennial Beer Hall in Goleta, California. To get the donations heated up, SPARK volunteers participated in the hot sauce challenge! Drinking hot sauce to drum up donations for a rescue is pure commitment!

During the bailout wars, the dogs at SPARK rescue enjoyed some extra love and attention. Charlie and Chance showed Sophie some puppy love and cleaned a puppachino from her face. Khloe was chosen for make out mania with Michelle and was SO sweet with her kisses. Khloe is an affectionate, adventure seeking Heeler Mix looking for an exploring partner. Khloe would be a great addition to an active family.

Yvonne is a sweet, Yorkie Mix who soaked up all the snuggles during the bailout wars. Yvonne is a snuggly girl in search of her forever family.

This morning, ARE Animal Rescue in Banning, California was up for their Jordan’s Way fundraising event! ARE is a private rescue with two main locations as well as several satellite locations inside of retail stores.

ARE Animal Rescue currently has MANY dogs and cats in their care and the funds raised today will definitely be put to good use. Today’s biggest donor was Robert, who generously contributed $2,500! Thank you so much for supporting your local rescue, Robert!

In the bailout wars, team two beat out team one and got to pie them in the face! It appears they really enjoyed their victory!

The ice bucket and egg roulette challenges never disappoint. Today these challenges helped keep the donations coming for this deserving rescue.

This morning’s first stop was in Santa Paula, California at Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center. This shelter has many gorgeous animals waiting for homes!

The fundraiser started off with Kris making it rain treats for the dogs.

Sergio and Richard partook in the tortilla slap challenge and unfortunately for Sergio, Richard slapped the water right out of his mouth so he got to pie him in the face! These guys did NOT hold back!

The dogs at Santa Paula Rescue really loved their puppachinos today. Many thanks to the kind donors who made it happen for them!

If you follow many of our live fundraisers, you’re likely familiar with the games and challenges we like to play. Lady Bird and Kylo enjoyed a little puppy love. These beauties are two of the longest rescue residents still in search of their forever homes. They each need a little time to build trust with new people, which can sometimes make it difficult to find the right adopters. Another sweetheart we just have to mention, is Dolly. Kris played camera time with Dolly today and she was exactly that- a total doll! She was full of kisses, snuggles and love. It’s time to hit the road again!!

This tour is part of the 40 Shelters in 40 Days Tour and will feature shelters in both California and Las Vegas.

Today is travel day for the Jordan’s Way team and tomorrow we’ll kick off the tour in Santa Paula, California at Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center! The first day of the tour will wrap up with Spark Rescue Santa Barbara hosted by Centennial Beer Hall in Goleta, California.

All throughout the tour, we’ll host a 3 hour LIVE fundraiser for each shelter. There will be pie face challenges, bailout wars, slime buckets, tortilla slaps and more. You will not want to miss it! The first part of the 40 Shelters in 40 Days Tour concludes on Thursday, April 27th at Forgotten Friends Rescue in Nevada!

If you’ve followed Jordan’s Way for any length of time, you know that these tours are a grind and we put in a ton of hard work. Our goal is to raise awareness for shelter dogs and cats as well as raise funding for the organizations who care for them. We hope to not only provide relief for the shelters financially, but to also showcase the amazing animals and help facilitate adoption opportunities for them.

T Minus 4 days until the 40 shelters in 40 days tour kicks off!

On every tour, we get A TON of great photo and video footage from each shelter, but unfortunately we cannot share it all because there is just so much.

Today we thought we’d share with you some of the best moments from a few of our favorite challenges on the last tour through Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

First up, we have the tortilla slap challenge. In this challenge, participants have to hold water in their mouths while taking a tortilla slap across the face from their opponent. If they spit out the water from the slap, their opponent gets to pie them in the face! Most of the time the water stays in, but every one in awhile we get lucky enough to see water fly everywhere and a good pie face.

Next are the slime and ice bucket challenges. Now if you follow the live feeds, you may have noticed that slime varies from shelter to shelter, which really keeps things interesting. Sometimes it’s green, sometimes blue, and sometimes it even has bits of corn in it like we experienced in Gillette! The ice bucket is cold no matter which shelter we’re at! Regardless, it’s always entertaining to see a big bucket of goo or ice water poured over someone’s head for a great cause!

Last but not least for today, is wiener mania! When the Jordan’s Way fundraiser reaches a certain dollar amount, all of the dogs are treated to hot dogs. We love seeing our furry friends get spoiled with one of their favorite treats!

The Jordan's Way Challenges and the Reasons We Do Them

The Jordan's Way fundraisers are known for the hilarious challenges like pie face, tortilla slap, bailout wars, puppy love and make out mania.

What many people may not realize however, is that these challenges have a method to their madness.

Particularly the bailout wars, this game is carefully orchestrated with one very important intention- highlighting a dog that has been in the shelter for too long, is overlooked, or difficult to adopt for one reason or another.

While Jordan’s Way does love to put the FUN in the fundraisers and build lasting relationships with shelter staff and community members, at the core of our organization is a passion much deeper than that. Jordan’s Way is more than a mission, it’s a movement. To raise funding for shelters in need, to raise awareness for the overpopulation crisis we’re facing in the U.S. and to hopefully create more opportunities for shelter animals to find homes.

The bailout wars is a fun challenge where shelter staff is kenneled with one of the shelter dogs until they raise enough in donations to be released. While "locked up", they may participate in the puppy love challenge where one lucky staff member will lie down with a whipped cream covered face and let the dog lick it clean. They may also play make out mania where their lips are slathered with peanut butter and the dog will smooch them clean.

Sounds sweet and funny to watch, but did you know there’s a very specific dog chosen to be placed in the kennel with staff? This is likely a dog that has been a long time resident and needs to be highlighted in hopes of increasing their odds of finding their forever family. When you walk through a shelter, dogs are barking and jumping at the kennel gates out of excitement, possible overstimulation, and maybe even a little bit of fear. But when they’re in their own space, with a shelter human they are used to, it’s easier to see the genuine reaction the dog will have in a familiar, home-like setting. You won’t get that vibe from simply walking through the shelter to find your new companion.

Another great game that we play during our live events is called Camera Time. This is where Kris with Jordan’s Way will sit with one of the dogs in an effort to raise donations. But during camera time, viewers get to see how the available dog reacts to Kris in their space. Sometimes you’ll see Kris get a face full of sloppy kisses, other times you’ll see a dog who is shy and in need of a softer presence. This game is another great way to showcase the sides of the adoptable dogs that a quick walk through the shelter will not provide.

The mission that drives the Jordan’s Way team all across the country to raise funds for shelters, isn’t just to throw pies in faces or watch people slap each other with tortillas (although these challenges do thoroughly entertain us), our focus is on the animals and the shelter volunteers and staff who take care of them every day. Our goal is to help these animals move on to the next chapter of their lives, in the loving homes they all deserve. On to the Next Tour!

After wrapping up a hugely successful Jordan’s Way Tour in Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming, Kris and Mary Lynne headed for the airport to fly home. Sometimes on these tours, it can be difficult to see how many animals are still in search of their forever homes, and also to witness the harsh reality that many of these animals have never experienced the love of a family before. It is encouraging however, to meet the teams of people who help take care of and advocate for these shelter animals. Many of the people we get to meet across the country are incredibly selfless and dedicated human beings. We were so glad to meet some of these amazing people across Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. These people show up every single day to gives voices to the voiceless. We feel very fortunate to be able to support so many shelters across the country that do such phenomenal work.

After 11 days of very little sleep, Kris and Mary Lynne started to get a little bit silly toward the end of the tour.

Although a bit weary from visiting 19 shelters in 11 days, the team at Jordan’s Way is already thinking ahead to the next tour. On a serious note, Jordan's Way knows there’s always another shelter to help, and more shelter animals to save.

Next up is our 40 shelters in 40 days tour in California! Beginning April 17th, Jordan’s Way will visit shelters in both Northern and Southern California to help raise crucial funding for shelters in need. Last night, Jordan’s Way was at Red Desert Humane Society in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We’ve had some cute little helpers along the way on this tour. Tonight we had sweet little Kinley, who played puppy love with Honey Bee.

Miss Kinley then helped give out the catchinos to the shelter cats. She was also ready to help spray down the entire staff, if the donation goal was unmet. Luckily for the staff, the donations came in and they got to stay dry. Thank you for being such a big helper, Kinley!

To help bring in donations, shelter director Heidi agreed to a good egging. Who doesn’t want to egg their boss over the head? Thanks for being such a good sport, Heidi!

Harper was selected for make out mania with Ashley and was way too sweet for us to not feature her. Harper is a mixed breed looking for her forever home. The staff at Red Desert Humane Society were so committed to raising money for their shelter, they were willing to eat dog treats to keep the donations coming!

The ice bucket challenge got a couple of staff members soaked but helped to keep the fundraiser momentum going!

One more sweet soul we just have to feature from last night is Raya. Raya was the star of the show for several of the challenges. This little darling is a young mixed breed looking for her forever home. Last but not least, our final stop on our Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming tour was K-9 Freekz Rescue in Kearney, Nebraska.

In order for K-9 Freekz to take the trophy as the top fundraising Nebraska shelter, they had to surpass $24,000 in donations, and they knocked it out of the park! A fantastic job by all of the participants this morning, what a success!

A group of Alpha Phis stopped by from the University of Nebraska! Thank you all for supporting your local rescue!

K-9 Freekz meant business when it came to bringing in donations. Tyler agreed to wax his legs, ouch! And the slime bucket challenge was epic. This was some of the greenest slime we saw on the tour!

Two challenges we had yet to see on the tour were the polar plunge and mud wrestling! Now THAT is commitment!

Nate was a brave soul who did the one chip challenge. We saw this spicy challenge earlier on the tour and it looked brutal! The things we do to raise money for the animals we love!

K-9 Freekz Rescue was willing to do whatever it took to bring in as many donations as possible. Their hard work paid off because they raised over $25,000. The money raised will benefit so many animals!

We cannot thank each of the donors and participants in today’s fundraiser enough, we know that without each of you, the work that we do at Jordan’s Way just would not be possible.

Last night, Kris and Mary Lynne from Jordan’s Way were at Paws for Life Animal Rescue- Riverton Animal Adoption Center in Riverton, Wyoming. So far this tour, we haven’t seen an engaged couple partake in the tortilla slap challenge. They were hilariously aggressive and did not hold back!

As a special treat, the dogs were given dog cookies from a bakery! Kris and Mary Lynne even tried them.

To help pull in the donations, the staff at this rescue had a very messy pie face challenge.

During the bailout wars, Jeanine played puppy love with Tigger and Bullet enjoyed a peanut butter snack from his friend’s lips during the make out mania challenge. Barry was a little shy but also super sweet!

Shadow is one of the longest residents at the shelter, and spent some camera time being spoiled by Kris. Shadow has beautiful blue eyes and is about 2 years old. Frank is another good boy at the shelter who spent some camera time with Kris during the Jordan’s Way fundraiser. Frank is a 2-3 year old Shepherd Mix who likes other dogs but thinks dogs rule and cats drool so he’d do best in a home without cats. Mary Lynne is a sucker for the sweet dogs at the shelter. She likes to slip them extra snacks and love.

This morning, Kris and Mary Lynne had just a short drive over to Lander Pet Connection in Lander, Wyoming. Kris likes to begin every fundraiser event with a group huddle to pump up the shelter staff and fundraiser participants.

Since the beginning of this year, Lander Pet Connection has already rescued over 160 dogs. We love to see organizations so committed to rescuing the animals in need within their communities.

Lander Pet Connection had some adorable puppies to snuggle this morning. They were selected for make out mania and they loved the peanut butter! Mary Lynne and Kris never pass up an opportunity for puppy snuggles.

Lucas and Rachel each had a pretty good aim during the pie face challenge!

Heber, Haddie and Graham handed out prefilled Kongs for the dogs, so cute! Thanks for your help, kids!

While Homie enjoyed his filled kong, he played camera time with Kris and enjoyed several rounds of treats. Homie is a very playful, affectionate Pit Bull/Heeler Mix looking for his forever home. If you’re interested in adopting Homie, go to www.landerpets.org/adoptable-dogs to learn more.

Another sweetie that played camera time with Kris was Allie. Allie is currently recovering from medical treatment for gunshot wounds. She is just as sweet as can be. To celebrate a successful fundraiser, the dogs at Lander Pet Connection each enjoyed a burger during burger mania.

The dog treat transfer challenge kicked off the fundraiser and Connie was the proud winner!

After a little over a 7 hour drive, Kris and Mary Lynne were at The Friends of Gillette Animal Shelter in Gillette, Wyoming this morning.

The donations were a little slow to get started but they heated right up. As the fundraiser numbers started to climb, the dogs were treated to peanut butter frisbees.

It’s heartwarming to see how dedicated people all over the country are to raising necessary funding for their local shelter dogs and cats. The manager at the Gillette McDonalds agreed to donate burgers for all of the dogs if the fundraiser broke $4,000 and it did! The dogs each got to enjoy a tasty burger treat. Thanks to McDonalds for supporting their local shelter!

Last but not least, we had egg roulette and the slime bucket challenge! While we waited patiently to see who would be the slime bucket victim, for each subsequent donation that came in, one of the staff members took an egg over the head! At the last minute, the donations were FLYING in and the director of Friends of Gillette Animal shelter had to take the slime bucket over the head! Thank you for being such a good sport Teresa!

This morning, Jordan’s Way was with Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ Inc. generously hosted by Pet Supplies Plus in Omaha, Nebraska. What an enthusiastic rescue, ready to raise some funding for the animals in their care. From shaved heads and eyebrows to the eat it challenge, Bullies-N-Beyond Resq participants were committed to today’s fundraiser!

First, Tony agreed to wax his legs and then shave both his beard and his head!

But Tony wasn’t the only one willing to go to extremes to bring in donations, Chelsea agreed to shave off her eyebrows to keep the donation party going! Now, THAT is commitment.

Slime buckets are great to watch, but even more fun when the kids get to help make it! Stacey, rescue president was a good sport and took a slime bucket over the head.

We almost always have to share a good ice bucket challenge photo as well. This one is quite possibly one of the best shots we’ve ever gotten! That water looks COLD!

We talk a lot about how we love to see community participation at our fundraiser events. The local fire department came out to support Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ Inc. and agreed to the push up challenge.

Today’s “Eat It Challenge” was a little bit spicy. Participants dipped jalapeños in various hot sauces with different levels of heat.

What kids wouldn’t LOVE to pie their dad in the face? Cliff agreed to let his kids throw a pie in his face to help keep the fundraiser momentum going. Thanks for taking one for the team, Cliff!

Jordan’s Way always aims to highlight a dog or two at each of the shelters we visit. Last night, Kris and Mary Lynne from Jordan’s Way were at The Good Life Rescue in Grand Island, Nebraska. What a fun group of people. This fundraiser raised $24,000 and counting! Wow!

The night kicked off with a push-up challenge to get the donation party started!

Kelli and Cassie spent some time kenneled up with Beau and Emerie. As many of you who follow Jordan’s Way know, sometimes people do some hilarious things to raise money for their local rescues. After a 7 hour drive for Kris and Mary Lynne, next up this morning was Pets N Stuff in Mobridge, South Dakota!

Pets N Stuff was the only stop for today, as Kris and Mary Lynne have another long drive ahead of them tonight. Pets N Stuff is a small shelter with a big heart. Anyone who knows Kris, knows his heart is with the small, rural shelters and rescues.

Kris and Mary Lynne got to hang out with Monte the Python. As you can see, Mary Lynne might be a little better suited for a reptile companion!

The tortilla slap challenge was first up to help fire up the donations!

No two pie face challenges are the same. Some teams just enjoy it more than others. I think Pets N Stuff REALLY enjoyed today’s pie face challenge!

Mary Lynne got some love from Ace during the bailout wars. Ace is one of the longest residents at this shelter, having been in their care for 1 1/2 years! He is a beautiful boy waiting for his forever home. Last night, Kris and Mary Lynn from Jordan’s Way were at Holt County Animal Shelter in O’Neill, Nebraska. The staff and community were so ready to raise some crucial funding for this amazing shelter. Mr. Mcintosh, an ambassador from the O’Neill Chamber of Commerce and owner of Mcintosh Jewelry donated a generous $500. He is pictured below with his lovely wife.

It’s always heartwarming to see community participation at these fundraisers. The local mayor even came out to support The Holt County Animal Shelter.

Ice bucket challenges are chilly to watch. Diana, shelter manager and Chris both took ice buckets over the head to rally donations.

Kylo is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and one of the shelter’s longest residents. He has been in their care for 3 1/2 years! He was a sweetheart for puppy love, enjoying a puppachino from his friend’s face. Minden stopped by to give the dogs all a hot dog treat. How cute is he? Thanks for your help Minden!

Creek Valley 5th and 6th graders were a huge part of today’s fundraiser. They participated in the pie face challenge, egg roulette, and even did push ups to help bring in the donations!

Ms. Riley took a slime bucket over the head as well. It was very cool to see the local elementary kids and teachers participating in such a wonderful event! Huge thank you to Creek Valley Elementary!

To kick off last night’s fundraiser at Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Kris with Jordan’s Way made it rain treats for the dogs thanks to the first donation of the night. The bamboozled jelly bean challenge brought in the donations. The Muddy Paws staff all had to play jelly bean roulette. Thankfully the flavors didn’t seem too terrible for anyone!

Midway through the fundraiser, we met a sweet canine soul named Nessa. Though she’s in a wheelchair, she doesn’t let her paralysis slow her down. Nessa is still searching for her forever home. The donors were SO supportive, we reached milestones for Kenny, Paul and Isaiah to all shave their heads. We love seeing shelter staff and fundraiser participants so committed to the cause!

The ice bucket challenge is always a crowd pleaser. Mary and Isaiah had two minutes to raise $100 or Isaiah was going to get dunked. The donors stepped up and poor Isaiah got a bucket of icy, cold water right over the head.

We can’t forget the pie face challenges. A pie to the face is a small price to pay to raise funds for the cats and dogs in the shelter.

After a blast at Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue last night, this morning Jordan's Way geared up to visit The Erna R. Badstieber Paws & Claws Adoption Center in Columbus, Nebraska.

The fundraiser kicked off with treats and puppachinos as the donations steadily rolled in to spoil the shelter dogs.

The pressure was on because if we reached $3,000 on Facebook, an anonymous donor was stepping up with $2000!! We made it, what a generous donation!

The bailout wars were next and Team 1 had to raise as much money as possible in 25 minutes, in hopes they could raise more than Team 2. Unfortunately for them, they fell short and Team 2 got to pie them in the face!

Next up, Kurt agreed to shave his beard if an additional $1,000 came in and guess what? Thanks to the generosity of today’s donors, Kurt left today looking like a new man! Way to commit to your local Shelter, Kurt!

If an additional $1000 was raised in 25 minutes, Jordan’s way would buy every dog a burger. If not, the staff was going to get a cold water hose down! Thankfully for the dogs (and the staff), the money was raised and every dog got a burger. But that was not the clincher of the Paws & Claws fundraiser. Rick turned up the heat challenging another $400 in donations and he would wax his chest! Painfully for him, we got there and he walked out smoother than a baby’s bottom.

The Jordan’s Way Fundraiser event at Town and Country Humane Society in Papillion, Nebraska started off HOT (literally) with the one chip challenge! You know it MUST be spicy if gloves are necessary for handling the chip! Thankfully the participants had milk standing by to put out the flames in their mouths!

Next, the dogs were going to get filled Kong toys if the fundraiser broke $6000, and it DID! The dogs loved their tasty treats.

To up the ante even higher, burger mania could only be achieved if the fundraiser beat the year prior and if not, the burgers would be skipped and the staff would get a super cold hose down!

The operations manager at Town and Country Humane Society is Diana, who agreed to spend the night in the kennel with Mila if the next milestone wasn’t met. At the last minute, a very generous donation came in and Diana had a sleepover with Mila in the kennel!

The dogs at Town and Country LOVED the puppy love challenge. Bernadette was possibly one of the most enthusiastic puppy love canine participants we’ve ever seen! She didn’t leave a drop on her friend’s face. The next puppy love challenge was for Murphy, and he too was loving the whipped cream clean up duty. Bernadette (licking her nose in the photo below) and Murphy (wearing a handsome 'adopt me' harness in the photo below) have both been in the shelter for a long time, patiently waiting for their forever homes. The second half of Town and Country Humane Society’s fundraiser was on FIRE. We wrapped up with the ice bucket challenge and because we beat last year’s fundraiser by a landslide, the dogs were all spoiled by burger mania!!

After a bit of rest following a super fun night at Town and Country Humane Society, first up this morning, we were at Start Over Rover in Hastings, Nebraska. The fundraiser kicked off with the puppachino challenge. Thankfully, a donor stepped up with only 40 seconds left to spare in the challenge and the dogs all got a puppachino!

During our bailout wars challenge, Ghost showed Maddie on Team 1 some peanut butter love in makeout mania. Ghost is a 5 year old, beautiful Pit Bull Terrier. If you can provide a loving, forever home for Ghost, please go to www.startoverrover.org/new-page-1 to inquire about her adoption.

Bailout wars Team 2 were locked up with M’Lynn who has been in the shelter since June of 2020. That’s almost 3 long years! M’Lynn prefers to be your only pet but does okay with older children. Team 1 ended up getting beat out by Team 2 so they got to pie their competition right in the face! Jadyn from Team 1 got revenge on Daniel from Team 2 for pie face with the ice bucket challenge. $90 was needed to get Jadyn her revenge and we made it! Daniel was dunked with a bucket of icy water! Kelly was next if a donation came in and it did quickly! A frozen Daniel gave Kelly the ice bucket next.

Mega bailout took place in the small dog rom. The Start Over Rover Staff had 25 minutes to raise $1000. If they didn’t meet the goal, the staff all got a hose down. While they waited to learn their fate, they made it rain treats for the dogs. When the 25 minutes were up, they raised over $1400 and were set free!

To finish the fundraiser out strong, every dog got a cupcake if we reached $9,000. Luckily for the dogs, the generous donors saved the day and the dogs enjoyed a tasty cupcake treat!

To wrap up last night’s fundraiser, each of the dogs enjoyed a delicious meatball treat. We are immensely grateful to our donors who make these fundraisers possible.

Next, our work didn’t stop there! The team caught a little bit of sleep and this morning we were at Saunders County Lost Pets Pet Rescue in Wahoo, Nebraska. You can visit them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SCLPrescue

Within our first few minutes of the fundraiser, we received a whopping $2500 donation! Amazing! The dogs then all enjoyed a puppachino. Because the donations were pouring in so well, before the dogs even finished their tasty puppachinos, it was time for weiner mania where every dog was treated to a hot dog!

Shelter employee Stacey lucked out during our Trick or Treat challenge. She was saved by a last minute donation so she was spared from eating a handful of treats, the dogs got to eat them instead!

Among the many beautiful shelter dogs is Mikey. Mikey is a beautiful lab/staffy mix who has been in rescue for 15 long months. He is very playful, loves other dogs and is super affectionate. During our puppy love challenge, Mikey tenderly cleaned the puppachino from Taylor’s face. Then later, he gently cleaned the peanut butter from Kim’s lips during the makeout mania challenge. How is this handsome, lovable boy still looking for his forever home?!

Police Chief Joe Baudler even stopped by to show his support. In just 2 minutes we raised $75 so he had to drop and do 75 push ups! Thank you for supporting your local shelter, Chief Baudler!

Next, thanks to yet another generous donation, Chief Baudler got to throw a pie right in the Assistant Police Chief Alan’s face! But don’t worry, later Assistant Chief Alan got revenge and Chief Baudler was next to take a pie to the face.

The next game was drop it like it’s hot to shower treats over Nala, a loving lab mix who has been in rescue for 5 years- that is over half of her life! How often does a princess walk into a fundraiser? Not often, but today, Princess Ella Pearl and her brother Lee stopped by with a $40 donation so they got to pie Kris in the face.

The fundraiser wrapped up with the hose down challenge. Our goal was to hit $6000 or the staff and Chief Baudler were going to get a super cold hose down from Mary Lynn! Fortunately for the staff AND the dogs, the donations continued to roll in, and the hose down was CANCELLED. Instead, Jordan’s Way sponsored burger mania, and every dog got a burger. What a fun way to finish out the event.

We had a BLAST at our first shelter of the tour today! Jeanette Hunt Blair Animal Shelter you guys were awesome. We started the morning out strong with $3,000 in donations in our first half hour, so we made it rain treats for the dogs right off the bat. What a fun, supportive community! Huge thanks to Enterprise Media Group, Blair Animal Clinic and GRT obedience training for stopping by to show their support.
Even the local Sheriff came by to give our friend Kyle a hose down for a good cause! GRT Obedience Training has agreed to donate 2 free training sessions to the next 2 dogs adopted from the shelter.

Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming- we're coming for you! In our 11 day tour, we'll be visiting 18 different shelters. That means 18 different 3 hour long LIVE Facebook fundraisers.

We’re energized and ready to have some fun. But the truth is, there is a very serious side to this. Did you know that it can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 for shelters to simply feed their dogs? And that doesn’t even include the medical, boarding, or staffing expenses that shelters also have to carry. To make this financial burden just a little bit lighter, our goal for this tour is to feed the animals for a year. We know we can do it but we need your help to meet this goal!
